| ROOTS OF THE BLUES   Robert
  D. Morritt   Availability             As a Teen, I worked for the ‘Toronto Daily Star’ in the
week, every Saturday I would travel
from Toronto to Buffalo, New York State. My first stop would always be Herb Ross’s
Record Bar on the East side. in the colored section of the city. It was
crammed with older R&B and Blues records! I recall purchasing many
excellent records there. A buddy of mine, John Feeney, played both ‘R &
B” and ‘Blues' in Toronto. His band often toured Lansing, Michigan, and other
mid-western American venues. He played a Fender guitar and organ. His first
R&B record on the ‘Astra’ label in Toronto was “Clean Sweep”. Later I had
the privilege of meeting Jimmy Reed and talked with him between sets when I
worked for the Toronto Daily Star. I was hooked on collecting records. Mainly
R&B or Blues. For those interested in this area this book is meant for
  you.   |
